For some instances if the person you ask happens not to speak English at least they might be able to point you in the right direction as long as you can say "bus stop please" in Italian. So the reason to have knowledge of the language is to ensure that your traveling experience is enhanced and make you vacation manageable. The essential words you have got to learn before you leave will serve as a platform for you to learn more useable words when you arrive there and widen your vocabulary.

"Romance Language" is how the Italian language is described and this is due to the fact the it is taken from ancient Latin and said to have the closest relevance to Latin and they use the Latin alphabet as well. There are 2 versions that characterize Italian language there is the formal way and the non-formal way of speaking Italian. Stressing certain syllables is one of the characteristics of Italian language. If you are wondering which version you should use when traveling, is it the formal version or the non-formal version? Using the non-formal version would be more appropriate.

The importance of learning the basics of Italian language is to assist you if you plan to use public transport on your vacation, of course you will find travel guides, cab drivers and hotel staff that are fluent in English and some speak a little but it is still essential in a way that you may need specific words and phrases during your Italian vacation. Here are some of the informal versions that you need to know for example: "Yes" is Si in Italian and No is just simply no and when you want to say "Hello" Italians use Ciao. Ciao can also be used when saying "goodbye" and if you want to say "How are you?" in Italian it is come stai?

Knowing how to say greetings in Italian language is much required this is because Italians are naturally friendly and in order for you to experience the Italian culture you must be able to politely respond when you are greeted or if you intend to offer a greeting first. Here are some examples of greetings in Italian one is "Good morning" in Italian it is buon giorno!, and "Good afternoon" is buona sera!, and to say "Good evening" it is buona sera! as well and for "Good night " it is buona notte! that is a reference to sleep well. While on your vacation you may get to say "please" per favore and "thank you" grazie so memorise them and use them often as Italians are polite people. Then there are words that you should know when asking for directions like "Where is....?" and in Italian it is dove la....? this is great to know because it can help you to make sentences like dove la toeletta? in English is Where is the bathroom?

So if you decide to use public transport at least make sure that you carry some cards with you with Italian words for "right and left, north and south, east and west, bus stop, train" etc. Also it is wise to carry a portable translator with you so that you can quickly translate Italian words into English on your Italian vacation
